  • Fixture, vanity, and frameless glass fitting

We can also add luxury, spa-like details such as a steam or rain shower, shower niche, freestanding, soaking, or clawfoot tub, double-sink or floating vanity, and more. Custom Cabinetry Installation and Refacing

Our team has installed over 1,000 custom cabinets for Charlotte-area homes and businesses. Depending on your needs, we can incorporate:

  • Veneer or laminate replacement with stain or paint finishes
  • New doors and drawer fronts, including glass doors and open shelving
  • Cabinet resizing, height modification, and reconfiguration
  • Soft-close conversion for existing doors and drawers
  • Organizers, including lazy Susans, pull-out pantries, tray dividers, spice racks, and trash and recycling pullouts

If your cabinets look worn or outdated, cabinet refacing, refinishing, or resurfacing can give them a fresh makeover. We also handle restoration, repainting, restaining, and door refacing.

Our cabinet installations include base, wall, pantry, tall, and corner cabinets, appliance garages, microwave enclosures, refrigerator surrounds, and wine storage. For the bathroom, we offer custom vanity cabinets, linen cabinets, and medicine cabinets.

Countertop Installation

We’ve spent three decades refining our custom kitchen work, and countertop installation is built on that experience. We match your kitchen’s exact dimensions, layout, and style with custom

natural-stone and slab countertops. Whether it’s a kitchen island work surface, a breakfast bar, or a prep station, each countertop is cut and fitted to the space. We can also include undermount sink installation, sink cabinet modification, and workstation sink fitting upon your request.  For accessible kitchens, a lowered or roll-under work surface can be a perfect choice.

Walk-in Shower and Tub-to-Shower Conversions

Our Charlotte Custom installers build each walk-in shower and tub-to-shower conversion to match your bathroom’s footprint, existing plumbing, and style. A typical installation includes:

  • Bathtub removal and shower pan replacement
  • Shower waterproofing and grout sealing
  • Porcelain, ceramic, or natural-stone tile walls and floor
  • Frameless, semi-frameless, or framed custom shower glass in bypass, hinged, pivot, or sliding doors, or a fixed glass panel
  • Optional shower niche, corner or floating bench, shower ledge, handheld, rain, multi-head, or steam shower fixtures

For aging-in-place and accessibility, we offer curbless, barrier-free, and roll-in showers, each with a non-slip surface, grab bars, and accessible controls. We also handle shower surround replacement, custom tile showers, and shower-to-tub conversions for homeowners who want a soaking tub back.

Kitchen Layout and Open-Concept Remodeling

Charlotte Cuso Kitchen & Bath reconfigures each kitchen around how you cook, move, and entertain while also looking into your home’s structure and the flow between rooms. A typical project includes:

  • Wall removal and open-concept conversion, including closed-to-open kitchen conversion
  • Work-triangle redesign and traffic-flow improvement
  • Space optimization and reconfiguration for galley, U-shaped, L-shaped, and one-wall kitchens
  • Peninsula or island additions, with a breakfast bar or breakfast nook where space allows
  • Pass-through and doorway modification to connect the kitchen to living and dining areas

It’s time for a kitchen layout remodel if your space feels closed off, cramped, or hard to move through. We do kitchen expansion, enlargement, relocation, conversion from another room, and kitchen addition to fix this problem.

  • Stainless and custom casework
  • Cook line, service line, prep, and dishwashing areas
  • Three-compartment sinks, pot sinks, handwashing stations, and hands-free faucets
  • Walk-in and dry storage
  • Pass-throughs, pickup counters, and serving counters

Apartment Kitchen Renovation and Unit Turns

South End and Uptown Charlotte, along with growing areas like University City and NoDa, have some of the region’s largest concentrations of apartment communities, where owners need fast, consistent kitchen updates between tenants. We deliver value-engineered kitchen renovations designed for these scales. Our apartment kitchen work includes:

  • Unit turns and turnover renovations with cabinet replacement, new backsplash, and fixture upgrades
  • Bulk remodeling for multi-unit and condominium communities
  • Kitchen upgrades for rental units and student housing
  • Common-area, clubhouse, amenity, and senior-living kitchens

Charlotte Custom Kitchen & Bath works with property managers, apartment owners, and landlords to keep units on schedule and back on the market.

Rental Property Bathroom Remodeling

Rental bathrooms go through a lot. Tenants come and go, moisture builds up, and everything has to hold up until the next lease. However, a worn-out bathroom can also slow down a lease or a sale, so getting it done right helps your unit get back on the market faster. Our team is here to deliver value-engineered bathroom remodeling for landlords, property managers, and owners of investment properties, multi-unit buildings, student housing, and condos. Our rental bathroom work includes:

  • Tub-to-shower conversion, or bathtub refinishing, reglazing, and resurfacing
  • Tile, grout, caulk, and waterproofing
  • Shower surround, vanity, and cabinet replacement
  • Fixture upgrades for turnover units, with bulk remodeling for multiple bathrooms
  • Apartment common-area and clubhouse bathroom renovation

ADA-compliant and Accessible Bathroom Remodeling

Bathrooms should work for everyone, whether it’s in a home or a business. Our ADA-compliant and accessible remodels help people stay safe and independent as they age, and make disability access easier. For Charlotte businesses, that often means an ADA restroom renovation for an existing building.

We plan each accessible layout modification around universal design, with barrier-free and curbless entries, doorway widening, and circulation improvement for wheelchair and mobility-friendly use. Installation involves roll-in showers, grab bars with proper wall backing, shower benches, accessible shower controls, comfort-height toilets, roll-under sinks, wheelchair-accessible vanities, accessible stalls, and accessible bathtubs. These require precise measurements so every fixture sits at a reachable height and clearance.

Flooring Installation for Kitchens and Baths

Kitchen and bathroom floors take daily wear from foot traffic, spills, and moisture. Having the right tile adds durability, safety, and visual definition to the whole room.

We install porcelain, ceramic, natural-stone, and large-format tile to match your space and style. Our work includes bathroom floor tile remodeling, tile layout, custom tile patterns, grout replacement, floor tile repair, and shower floor replacement. Our installation also involves waterproofing and a non-slip surface, following precise measurements and level prep to prevent cracked tiles or uneven grout lines.

Charlotte’s Trusted Kitchen and Bath Remodeling Contractor

Licensed Trades Under One Roof

Charlotte Custom Kitchen & Bath holds a General Contractor License from the NC Licensing Board for General Contractors (NCLBGC). Our team also includes licensed electrical (NC State Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors), plumbing, and HVAC/mechanical contractors (NC State Board of Examiners of Plumbing, Heating and Fire Sprinkler Contractors). That means your project is built to state standards and passes inspection, without you coordinating separate crews.

Insured and Bonded for Your Protection

We carry general liability insurance, workers’ compensation, and a surety bond. Liability and workers’ compensation coverage protect your property and your finances if an accident or damage happens on the job. The bond adds assurance that the work will be completed as promised.

Safe, Lead-Safe Jobsites

Our crew holds EPA Lead RRP Certification and OSHA 10 / OSHA 30 training. This matters for older Charlotte homes and buildings, where lead paint is a real concern during demolition. It also means we meet the safety requirements many commercial properties and general contractors expect.

Certified Kitchen and Bath Expertise

Our team holds Certified Kitchen & Bath Remodeler (CKBR), CKD, and CBD credentials from NKBA, a Certified Remodeler (CR) designation from NARI, and Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) training from NAHB. Kitchen Layouts Explained: Which Design Fits Your Space?

Your kitchen's layout decides how it feels to cook, move, and gather in with family and friends. It's also the hardest part of a remodel to change later, since moving walls, plumbing, and electrical costs far more than swapping cabinets or counters. Here's how the most common layouts work, who they suit, and what to know before opening up a closed-off kitchen.

Common Kitchen Layouts

Galley Kitchen

Two parallel runs of cabinets with a walkway between them. It's efficient and common in older Charlotte bungalows, townhomes, and condos.

1: Best for: Narrow rooms and one or two cooks

2: Watch for: Tight traffic flow if the walkway doubles as a hallway

3: Upgrade idea: Remove one wall or add a pass-through to open the space

L-Shaped Kitchen

Cabinets along two adjoining walls, leaving the other sides open. It's flexible and works in small and mid-sized rooms.

1: Best for: Families and open dining areas

2: Watch for: Wasted corner space, which a blind corner solution or lazy Susan can fix

U-Shaped Kitchen

Cabinets on three walls, with plenty of counter and storage space.

1: Best for: Larger rooms and serious cooks

2: Watch for: A closed-in feel if the room is too small, or crowding when two people cook

One-Wall Kitchen

Everything along a single wall. It's space-saving and popular in apartments, condos, and open-plan homes.

1: Best for: Small footprints and studio layouts

2: Watch for: Limited counter space, which an island or movable prep station can offset

Peninsula Kitchen

Like an L or U shape with an extended counter attached to the cabinetry at one end. It adds seating and prep space without the clearance an island needs.

1: Best for: Medium kitchens that can't fit a full island

2: Watch for: Blocked traffic flow on the peninsula side

Island Options

An island adds prep space, storage, and seating, but it needs room around it. A common guideline is about 42 inches of clear walkway on every side, or 48 inches if two people often cook at once. If your kitchen is too tight for that, a peninsula is usually the better fit.

Options can include:

1: Prep island: extra work surface and a prep sink

2: Seating island: a breakfast bar for casual meals and homework

3: Storage island: drawers, shelving, and trash or recycling pullouts

4: Appliance island: a cooktop or dishwasher built in, which adds plumbing and electrical work

Open-Concept Conversions

Many homeowners want to turn a closed kitchen into one that flows into the living or dining area. A closed-to-open conversion typically involves:

Wall removal: Some walls are load-bearing and need a structural beam or header and a permit. Others are simple partitions.

Utility relocation: Walls often hide plumbing, electrical, gas, or ductwork that must be rerouted.

Traffic flow: Removing a wall changes how people move through the home, so doorways, pass-throughs, and seating should be placed with that in mind.

The work triangle: The path between your sink, stove, and refrigerator. A good layout keeps these three close without crowding them. Usually each leg is about 4 to 9 feet, and the total is about 13 to 26 feet.

Choosing the Right Layout

Match the layout to your room and the way you live:

If your kitchen is...

Narrow and small

Medium with a flexible footprint

Large with room to spare

Closed off from living areas

Consider...

Galley or one-wall

L-shaped or peninsula

U-shaped, or L-shaped with an island

An open-concept conversion

Also think about how many people cook at once, how often you entertain, and how much storage you need.

What Our Charlotte Clients Say About Our Services

“We’d wanted an open kitchen since we bought our Dilworth bungalow, but I worried about tearing out a wall. The crew confirmed it was load-bearing, handled the beam and permits, and their plumber and electrician rerouted everything without any delays. Our galley kitchen is now one bright space that flows into the dining room, and the new island has become the center of every family gathering.”

Rebecca Hartwell

Homeowner, Dilworth

“Our restaurant restrooms were dated, and one stall wasn’t up to ADA standards. The team redid the layout, installed accessible stalls, wall-hung toilets, and touchless faucets, and scheduled the work around our slow days so we never lost a dinner service. Customers have complimented the new restrooms, and the finish has held up no matter how large the crowd gets.”

Marcus Delgado

Owner, Delgado’s Kitchen & Taproom, South End

“I manage 60 units, and turnover time is everything. Charlotte Custom Kitchen & Bath replaced cabinets, updated backsplashes and fixtures, and converted worn-out tubs to showers in unit after unit, all on schedule. Having licensed plumbing and electrical in-house meant no waiting on separate subs, and our units went back on the market faster.”
